3 clubs to be promoted and 3 to be relegated- Rick Parry (EFL Chief)

Amid the coronavirus, it is yet to be decided whether the football season would resume or not. Project Restart is being discussed where multiple plans are to be adopted.

One of the plans of the restarts include is playing league games at neutral venues. The clubs that sit at the bottom of the table won’t be willing to d so, as the chances of relegation increases.

Earlier, ideas were proposed to scrap the premier league relegation for the season, but the EFL chief Rick Parry came out and said to the Digital, Culture, Media and Sport committee, “Promotion and relegation will remain as they are. We expect 3 championship clubs to be promoted. The Premier league expects 3 clubs to be relegated”

The chief also mentioned about the losses that clubs could be facing. Losses up to 200 million pounds are expected by September.
Wage cuts and deferred payments were also discussed, to which Parry said that EFL was on board with the Deloitte, which was appointed by the PFA to investigate the club’s balance sheets and see whether clubs had genuine cases for need for differing payments.

Finishing the season behind close door now seems to be a formality for sporting events, as there won’t be any financial benefits for the stakeholders involved.
